As the year comes to a close, we want to thank everyone in our community for a fantastic 2019! It’s been a year of tremendous growth here at AVIAA, with an expanding supply network  supporting a fleet of over 1,000 aircraft and growing. While we’re looking forward to all that the new year we’ll bring, we wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate and share some of our top milestones from this past year.

In January we added over 150 aircraft to our fleet with our acquisition of Convolus. The move allowed us to widen our footprint in Europe with the establishment of an office in Munich, Germany, complementing our existing bases in the UK and US. Irena Deville, co-founder and CEO of Convolus, became Managing Director – Europe and Middle East for AVIAA. “Business aviation in Europe remains significantly fragmented,” commented Irena Deville. “The opportunity to scale up and expand with AVIAA means we can optimize our technology solutions; combine our procurement data sets globally to better inform pricing, predict spend, and streamline our transactions. It all comes down to better serving our members and suppliers as we add new categories to support our mainstay pillars.” she added.

We expanded our insurance offering and welcomed Taylor Turney to the AVIAA team as our Vice President, Insurance. Through AVIAA Insurance Services, we offer lower costs, increased efficiencies, and reinvestment into risk management programs for our members.

AVIAA’s insurance offerings include hull and liability, but also employee benefits, Workers Compensation, Travel Accident, Loss of Pilot License, and Management Liabilities. And importantly, the insurance service pillar is seamlessly integrated within our broader managed procurement services offering, which covers fuel, maintenance, FBO handling, crew training, satellite services and more.

After a vigorous RFP process for North American FBOs, we were pleased to establish the AVIAA Preferred FBO Network in March of this year. The newly selected US and Canadian locations, plus additional locations added in the months following, joined our established FBO partners in the UK, Europe, Middle East, and Asia for a robust network of over 150 locations worldwide. Through the network, AVIAA members receive exclusive pricing on fuel uplift at North American locations, in addition to discounts on handling and other services at all other destinations.

Les Popiolek, veteran of the healthcare and technology industries, with 25 years’ experience in group purchasing, joined AVIAA as Chairman in April of this year. Les has held leadership roles in data, analytics, procurement, and sourcing, most recently serving as COO of Valify, a healthcare cost management platform.

We were thrilled to launch our new corporate social responsibility initiative, AVIAA Cares, this summer. “We have created AVIAA Cares with the goal of helping dedicated air ambulance, critical response operators, and medical flight providers reduce their operational costs,” said Matthew Smith, AVIAA’s Chief Business Development Officer.

Through the AVIAA Cares program, Corporate Angel Network operators will receive six months’ complimentary AVIAA membership, which includes exclusive benefits with preferred partners and concierge-level procurement consultation. Existing AVIAA members will also be rewarded if they join and provide flights for CAN, on their next membership renewal.
